Navigating CECL Uncertainty: Mastering Sensitivity Analysis and Volatility Management

May 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Free

Description:

Understanding CECL volatility and sensitivity analysis can be complex and involves significant judgment, making CECl estimates susceptible to both internal and external factors. In this session, we will delve into the critical aspects of sensitivity analysis and volatility management within the CECL framework. We will explore practical techniques for conducting sensitivity analysis, interpreting the results, and developing strategies to manage the volatility inherent in CECL modeling. While there will always be some amount of volatility, this session will equip attendees with the tools and knowledge to build more robust and reliable CECL models, enhancing their understanding of potential risks and improving decision-making.

CPE Objectives:

  1. Define sensitivity analysis within the context of CECL and explain its importance in understanding the range of potential loss estimates.

  2. Review practical techniques to conduct sensitivity analysis on key model inputs and assumptions.

  3. Review sensitivity analysis outputs to understand the impact of changes in key variables on CECL estimates and identify areas of heightened risk.

  4. Identify strategies to manage the volatility inherent in CECL modeling, including scenario analysis, stress testing, and model adjustments.
